The short version

  • CoolRoom is free, with no ads. The AI is included with limited usage time so everyone gets their share.
  • You only connect your own school account, never someone else's.
  • Respect in the class: no harassment, no photo of someone without their agreement, nothing illegal.
  • What you post stays yours; you only allow us to show it to the people you share it with.
  • CoolRoom is in beta: always check official information with your school.

This summary doesn't replace the full text below.

1These terms

These terms apply to the CoolRoom app (Android, iPhone and browser) and to the coolroom.app site. By accepting them in the app, you agree to follow them. If you don't accept them, you can't use the app.

How we use your data is explained in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

Read the privacy policy

2Who publishes CoolRoom

  • Publisher and publication director: Maxime Viallet, private individual (no commercial activity), with the gandasdev team.
  • Host: Maxime Viallet, on his own server in France, behind Cloudflare's protection service.
  • Contact: [email protected].

CoolRoom is not affiliated with your school, the French Ministry of Education, Pronote, Skolengo, EduConnect or the other services named. Their names and logos belong to their owners and are only used to say what CoolRoom works with.

3The service

CoolRoom brings together what a class needs: homework checked by the class, grades, timetable, school life, ENT mail, class chat, lessons and revision, AI to learn, notifications and a parent view.

  • Free: the whole app is free and has no ads. The AI is included with limited usage time, shown in the app. A paid plan may come for those who want more AI; it will be optional, have its own terms and take nothing away from the rest.
  • In beta: CoolRoom changes often. Features may change, be added or removed, and the service may be interrupted, for example during an update.
  • Not the official source: grades, homework and times come from your school, and homework added by students can be wrong. When in doubt, what your school publishes (Pronote, ENT, teachers) is what counts.

4Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, or have a parent's or legal guardian's agreement.
  • Signing up needs the referral code of someone who already uses CoolRoom.
  • Use an email address that is yours and that you read: it's used for your sign-in codes and important news.
  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you can turn on two-step sign-in in Settings. What is done from your account is your responsibility.
  • A parent account sees their child's grades, homework and timetable, read-only, with the family code the child gives them. The child can remove that link whenever they want.

5Your school account

  • Only connect your own Pronote, Skolengo, ENT or EduConnect account. Using someone else's login is forbidden, even with their agreement.
  • By connecting it, you allow CoolRoom to sign in on your behalf, only to fetch your own data.
  • Also follow your school's rules for its ENT.
  • You choose whether the homework your sync fetches is shared with your class (Settings › Confidentialité › Partage des devoirs). Your grades are never shared.
  • These services aren't run by CoolRoom: if they change or block access, the sync may stop. You can remove the connection at any time in Settings.

6The class rules

CoolRoom is a space for your class. It is forbidden to post or do:

  • harassment, threats, insults, repeated mockery, or hateful or discriminatory remarks;
  • photos or videos of someone without their agreement, let alone intimate images;
  • someone else's personal information (address, number, passwords…);
  • pretending to be someone else;
  • violent, pornographic or illegal content;
  • fake homework on purpose, spam or advertising;
  • cheating during a test;
  • any attempt to hack CoolRoom, get around its limits, scrape its data or overload it.

If someone harasses you or you are in danger, talk to an adult you trust. In France, 3018 (by phone, on 3018.fr or in its app, free, anonymous and confidential) helps young victims of online harassment. In immediate danger, call 17 or 112.

7What you post

You remain the owner of what you post (messages, photos, lessons, cards, homework). You only allow CoolRoom, for free, to keep it, show it and pass it on to the people you share it with, for as long as the service needs. What you shared with your class may stay visible to it after you leave.

Only post what you have the right to share: no whole scanned textbook, no protected document you don't have the rights to, no photo of someone who doesn't agree. CoolRoom trains no AI on your content; what the AI provider receives when you use the AI is explained in the privacy policy.

8Moderation and reports

  • The class's lead and the co-admins they chose can delete messages in their class.
  • The CoolRoom team can remove content, suspend or ban an account that doesn't respect these terms or the law. When possible, we tell you why and you can answer us if you think it's a mistake.
  • To report content, write to [email protected] with the class and the content. We read every report and handle it discreetly.
  • Illegal content can also be reported to the official French platform PHAROS: internet-signalement.gouv.fr.

9The AI

  • When you chat with the AI or it writes a lesson or cards, it's an artificial intelligence, not a person.
  • It can be wrong: check with your lesson or your teacher, especially before a test.
  • It's there to help you understand and practise, not to do your homework for you. It doesn't grade you and decides nothing about your schooling.
  • Don't put needless personal information in it (yours or other people's).
  • Its usage time is limited and counted, so everyone gets their share.

10XP, CC and the Shop

XP, levels, CC and Shop items are virtual. They are earned in the app, can't be bought with money, have no money value and can't be exchanged or resold. We may correct them if they were obtained by cheating (for example with fake referral accounts). Season passes last a limited time.

11Intellectual property

The app, the site, the CoolRoom name, the logo, the design and the code belong to the CoolRoom team. You may use them for your personal use, as intended. Copying, modifying, reselling or decompiling them without our written agreement is forbidden, except where the law allows it.

12Liability

We do our best for CoolRoom to work well and protect your data. Because the app is free and in beta, it is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it will always be available or error-free. Within the limits allowed by law, CoolRoom is not responsible for wrong information coming from your school or another student, for an interruption of the service, or for how you use the app. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you.

13Stopping CoolRoom

You can stop using CoolRoom whenever you want and ask for your account to be deleted (soon straight from the app, until then at [email protected]). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

14If these terms change

We may update these terms, for example when the app changes. The date and version at the top of the page change with the text, and the app asks you to accept the new version before going on. If you don't accept it, you can no longer use the app; you can then ask for your account to be deleted.

15Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If we disagree, write to us first: we'll look for a solution together. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, without depriving you of the rules that protect you as a consumer.

A question?

Write to us and we answer ourselves. For a request about your data, write from your CoolRoom account's address.
